Minor Freakout

Having a minor freak-out at the moment. We wrote the last check for Kieran's preschool today. He starts kindergarten in just over a month.

He's starting real school! He can't be that old! How am I going to handle it if they assign him homework, since it's been shown not to do any good for little kids? Where do you buy clear backpacks? Is he going to get picked on at school? How are we going to handle the logistics of kids at different schools? Will he like school? Will he make friends? Is this school actually good enough, or should we have sent him to a private school?

I'm going off to the corner now to curl up and sob uncontrollably.

It will be ok. I promise.

Marcie is right (of course)... it will be okay, but it will take some time to get used to it. The first day of school is also a freak out point but it helps to keep asking him what he learned, what he liked, who he met.

My boy is going into 3rd grade and that habit of him telling me about his day is one we still have and he seems to really enjoy it. Make it fun for both of you...

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate it.

I know all these points LOGICALLY, but emotionally it's still hard. We've already gotten into the habit of asking about his day, who he played with, etc., so hopefully we'll be able to continue that.

It will be easier, though, knowing that I have the support of such great friends as y'all!
